I remember being a toddler in the late 1950s in England looking up at the sky and knowing what airplanes were flying there. My favorite toy was a plastic B-58 Hustler bomber. I remember the first airplane I ever touched was the tail end of a C-47 that my father guided me to. I felt an electric charge at that moment.
I still feel that charge now every time I am near airplanes. I obtained my Private Pilot Certificate in 1987; soloed at Hayward Airfield in California that year. Taking the controls of an airplane is one of the great joys of my life. A day when I can fly is always a great day... pure electricity!
